Members and friends of Bracknell Conservative Association enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in Sandhurst on Saturday, with Hazel and Les kindly opening their home for Hazel’s Afternoon Tea.
It was great to see a mixture of new faces and old friends from across the Association, enjoying the sunshine, good company and, of course, plenty of food.
The afternoon started with a lovely cup of tea and a fantastic selection of sandwiches prepared by Hazel, giving everyone the chance to catch up and enjoy some lively conversation.
One topic that certainly got people talking was Sandhurst Town Mayor Cllr Graham Birch’s challenge to Sir Sadiq Khan to step into the boxing ring for a charity bout. The challenge has already attracted attention further afield, including from London cabbies on X.
Then came the important part: the scones, cream and jam, followed by a wonderful selection of homemade cakes baked by Gill Birch and Hazel. They certainly went down well!
Former Bracknell MP James Sunderland was among those who joined us and summed up the afternoon perfectly:
“Thanks to Hazel and Les for putting on a most enjoyable afternoon tea in Sandhurst. Good to catch up with BCA members. And the cakes were terrific!”
The weather stayed beautiful throughout and it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, bringing members together in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that makes events like these so worthwhile.
This writer enjoyed the hospitality so much that he completely forgot to take any pictures, which is perhaps the best review of the afternoon we can give!
A huge thank you to Hazel and Les for hosting us, to Gill for helping provide the fantastic cakes, and to everyone who came along and made the afternoon such a success.
