Bracknell Forest Borough Council
Borough councillors represent residents and make decisions affecting services across Bracknell Forest.
From planning and housing to roads, waste, social care, parks and the environment, the decisions taken by the Council have a direct impact on people's everyday lives.
Standing for Bracknell Forest Council gives you the opportunity to represent your neighbourhood while helping shape the future direction of our borough.
Town & Parish Councils
You can also stand as a Conservative candidate for one of our local town or parish councils.
These councils work at the most local level of government and provide an opportunity to get directly involved in the issues affecting your own community.
Who Are We Looking For?
There isn't one type of person who makes a good councillor.
You might run a business, work in the public or private sector, be retired, have a young family, volunteer locally or already be involved with a school, charity, sports club or community organisation.
You might already be politically active. Or you might never have considered standing for election before.
Different backgrounds and experiences bring different perspectives to local government. We want people who understand their communities, share our Conservative values and want to help make them better.
What Does Being a Councillor Involve?
Being a councillor is a responsibility, but it can also be enormously rewarding.
You'll speak with residents, help people with local problems, work with other councillors and community organisations, scrutinise decisions and have the opportunity to influence how local services are delivered.
It can also help develop valuable experience and skills, including communication, public speaking, debating and problem-solving.
Most importantly, you have the opportunity to make a real difference to the community you represent.
We'll Support You
You won't be expected to work everything out for yourself.
Our local Conservative team will help you understand the candidate and selection process, campaigning, speaking with residents and what you can expect if you are elected.
Once elected, Conservative councillors can also access wider training, advice and support through the Conservative local government network.
