SUPERFAST BROADBAND – WE NEED YOUR HELP Over the past few months the Local Enterprise Partnership of Bracknell Forest Council has been working with suppliers on the Tender Documents to deploy "Superfast" Broadband to a wider Community than the current government commitment.

Local Support for Armed Forces Community

Dr Phillip Lee MP attended an event at the House of Commons recently to further promote the creation of Community Covenants across the United Kingdom. The event highlighted the importance of local communities getting behind the Armed Forces community in their own area and honouring the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant in practice on the ground. Bracknell Forest's Community Covenant was among the first in the UK. 

Bracknell Welcomes the Olympic Torch

Dr Phillip Lee MP  visited the Olympic Park in February 2012 and has been very much looking forward to welcoming the Olympic Torch to Bracknell.  He says that he is delighted that Bracknell and neighbouring communities will welcome the Olympic Flame in a truly local way.

Police & Crime Commissioner Elections

As part of the 2010 General Election Manifesto, the Conservative Party pledged to make “the police accountable to a directly-elected individual who will set policing priorities for local communities” and this pledge will be fulfilled on Thursday 15th November when the country goes to the polls to vote for who they would like to represent them as the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) for their area.


Bracknell Forest Borough Council has published its Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule for a six week consultation.

Ashworth is new leader of Tory MEPs

Richard Asworth was elected by his fellow Tory MEPs to lead the largest British delegation in the European Parliament. He replaces Martin Callanan, who stood down last month after becoming leader of the broader European Conservatives and Reformists group in the EP. Mr Ashworth has represented the South east of England since 2004.
